The people you know, or “connections” can be a great source of information and mentorship as you explore career paths and prepare to apply to internships/traineeships, fellowships, and jobs. A common concern among students is that they don’t have a good network, but rest assured, this is something anyone can build over time. This session aims to equip you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to start building your professional network and knowledge step-by-step.
During this session, you will learn:
- What networking really is and isn’t
- Practical ways to identify and initiate career connections
- How to make the best use of LinkedIn and of informational interviews in the networking process
- How to propose, prepare for, and conduct an informational interview
