These online workshops offer a series of reflexive practices and transformational processes inspired by critical pedagogy, mindfulness and art-based research for transforming professional experience in higher education, including research, teaching, mentoring, administrative, managerial and care duties. Drawing on simple and easy-to-follow techniques adapted from creative writing, feminist pedagogy and participatory engagement the sessions develop a holistic view on the complex relationship of ‘work’ and ‘life.’
Understanding what doesn’t work, where we may feel stuck or constrained, and finding ways to change and do things differently are parallel processes. We will engage the habits that frame our days, how we navigate professional milieus and their gendered structures, as well as our ability to ‘think outside the box’ and our possibilities for cultivating inspired, fulfilling, enriching relations and personal conduct that support and enhance wellbeing.
Reflexive practices introduced in the workshops facilitate deeper insights into our everyday operation, helping to identify limiting patterns and map out practical solutions to transform them. The workshops create a safe space for both individual exploration and collective reflection, offering gentle pathways into releasing stress around particular aspects of professional/personal life and for exploring more caring, more connected ways of inhabiting our bodies and what we do in daily life. A more aware and more relaxed state of mind enables us to revisit our tasks, challenges, and aspirations with fresh ‘inner’ eyes, unlocking new insights, creativity and resourcefulness.
