80 Million

Film Screening
Thursday, March 17, 2016, 6:00 pm – 7:45 pm

80 Million (drama, 2011, in Polish with English subtitles, 102 min., dir. Waldemar Krzystek)

Based on real events, 80 Million is a punchy period thriller with a universal feel-good message. Waldemar Krzystek grew up under Communism, but 80 Million is less a political drama than a lively hybrid of action movie, heist thriller and dark comedy. Shot in a fairly conventional but fast-paced style, it features double agents, treacherous lovers, divided families, car chases and wily Catholic priests working for the anti-government underground.

In cooperation with the Polish Institute, Budapest

The screening is attached to the course "Counter-Cultures and Power During State Socialism 1960-1990".

Admission is free.
