Guest lecture by Koen Lenaerts,  President of the Court of Justice of the Euroepan Union

Introduction by John Shattuck, President and Rector, CEU

 

Mr Koen Lenaerts is elected President of the Court of Justice of the European Union  for the period from 8 October 2015 to 6 October 2018. He has been judge at the European Court of Justice since 2003 and Vice-President of the same since 2012. He was previously judge at the Court of First Instance. Koen Lenaerts is lic. iuris and holds a PhD in Law from the Katholieket Universiteit Leuven, where he has also been teaching and was appointed professor in 2003. He was also a member of the Brussels Bar and a professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and a visiting professor at the Harvard Law School. He is the author of numerous books and journal articles on various aspects of EU law. In addition, he is the member of the editorial board of several reviews, including the European Law Review and the European Constitutional Law Review.
