SPP Faculty Practitioner Career Talk - Brown Bag Lunch Series

Thursday, February 16, 2017, 12:45 pm – 1:30 pm

Graduate students hear all the time that they need to plan for their professional futures. They also need to prepare to take advantage of the unforeseen opportunities that they are likely to encounter. This winter, four SPP faculty practitioners will share their career stories with CEU students. We will hear from a drug policy expert, a human rights policy advisor, a researcher with the World Bank, and the co-founder of an international human rights organization. This is a great opportunity to learn about the roles both planning and chance can play as individuals chart their paths.

Speaker bio: Cristina Corduneanu-Huci’s academic and policy experience are deeply intertwined. She has worked for the World Bank in Washington, DC, conducting political economy research and training activities for evidence-based policymaking.  This engagement has included studies of the distributive implications of natural resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo and of healthcare policies in Uruguay. Cristina has also worked on projects on the rule of law and public financial management in the Middle East and North Africa. Cristina holds a PhD in Political Science from Duke University and an MA from the University of South Carolina. Her work as a practitioner and graduate fieldwork have involved several countries including Uruguay, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Ghana, Morocco, Turkey, and Romania.
