An Urban History of Modern Europe: 1815 to the Present

The book An Urban History of Modern Europe: 1815 to the Present I am planning to write while at IAS CEU is a general European urban history text covering the 19th and 20th centuries for students and a broad reading public. It takes the reader on a journey to cities and towns across the continent in search of the patterns of development that have shaped the urban landscape as indelibly European. The focus is on visual culture and the built environment, the social and cultural transformations that mark the patterns of urban continuity and change, and the transition to modern European urban society.
