Erasmus and the Idea of Human Freedom

Lecture
The CEU Campus
Wednesday, May 16, 2018, 5:30 pm

Erasmus is often the forgotten man of the Reformation period in large part because he sought to defend a moderate consensus position in the midst of an increasingly ugly and ultimately horrifying debate that left one third of the European population dead.  The lecture will explain Erasmus's position and lay the ground for a further explanation of how his thought through a series of underground passages and permutations came to shape the theological and moral fate of modernity.

The lecture is mandatory for the students of the Advanced Certificate in Political Thought program.
