- workshop and concert
The workshop draws on theoretical practices of sound art, psychogeography, urbanism, culture studies, anthropology, art theory and enables students to creatively capture the environs of the city through a critical lense. The aim is to present localised and conceptualised sound recordings.
Students learn the basics of recording, editing, mixing, performing and familiarise themselves with the sonic layer of the city.
Our aim is to define all the different ingredients which complete the city as a whole sonically. We are ready to explore the uniqueness of Budapest experimenting in the environment with people, voices and sounds. People should be more conscious of their environment, the scenes from their daily lives, in order to reconfigure their position in it. Through this phenomenological listening seminar students will be able to embrace and consciously navigate through the unique life of the city.

At the end of the workshop, participants will have the chance to present their pieces together during a special performance.

BIO//JUDIT EMESE KONOPÁS//
Judit Emese Konopas got in touch with the meaning of space from an early age as she finished her degrees as an architect.
From the beginning of her professional career, she focused on visualization and form of spaces. Her further interests widely spread into different genres such as architecture, art, music, photography and contemporary dance. After a phase of bouncing around them, she recently experiments on connecting the different fields, layering and emerging them into soundsculptures. She is an organizer, sound researcher and artist involved in various sonic events and holds workshops for artistic venues as well.
BIO//LUCIA UDVARDYOVÁ//
Lucia Udvardyová is a music journalist and organiser, a musician and a DJ. She holds a Masters degree in Electronic Culture
and Semiotics from Charles University in Prague. In 2010, together with Peter Gonda, she co-founded Easterndaze, a project that aims to document and interconnect the emerging underground scenes in Central and Eastern Europe. They run a music label called Baba Vanga. She also works for SHAPE, a new pan-European festival initiative that promotes innovative music and audiovisual art.
