Roundtable Discussion: Reflections on the Role of a (foreign) Teacher in Myanmar

Friday, February 1, 2019, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

CEU Doctoral Candidates are invited to an event organized by CEU Global Teaching Fellowship Program in partnership with CEU Center for Teaching and Learning:

'I want my country to change, Professor. What should I do?'
Reflections on the role of a (foreign) teacher in Myanmar. A Roundtable Discussion with CEU Teaching Fellows in Myanmar 2016-2018

The event will bring together CEU Fellows who taught at the Universities of Yangon and Mandalay between 2016 and 2018. Reflecting on their experiences, the Fellows will engage in a mediated discussion about the context of teaching in Myanmar (academic environment, teaching practices, the role(s) of university teachers, etc.) and will elaborate on how they coped with it: what skills they needed or had to develop in order to respond efficiently to the challenges confronting them and guide their students successfully. Last but not least, they will share some of the dilemmas they faced as scholars and individuals.

Date and time: Friday, 1 February 2019, 4:00 pm
Venue: N9 201 Hanak room

The discussion will be moderated by Margaryta Rymarenko, CTL Postdoctoral Fellow & Global Teaching Fellow at the University of Yangon, December 2016-April 2017
