(Tentative) Abstract:
This peer-led workshop seeks to raise awareness about the dominance of West-centric discourses in academia and how to navigate this field as researchers. It offers a space for graduate students and researchers of colour for fostering solidarity, while others are welcome to listen. The organisers will lead the discussion, share their own research, experiences, and the ways in which they challenge the hegemonic discourses within their fields. This will be followed up by a structured discussion, in which the attendees’ will be invited to share their projects and experiences as well. By the end of the workshop, the organisers will collect the ideas generated and shared in the workshop, in order to produce a crowd-sourced list of suggestions and pathways for dissemination amongst a broader audience.
