Political risk analysts / consultants usually possess excellent research and analytical skills, as well as strong communication and writing skills. Regional and/or country-specific expertise is also frequently sought after in this field—as well as the ability to think ahead creatively regarding possible scenarios.

Dr. Otilia DhandDr. Otilia Dhand currently serves as a Managing Director with Teneo Strategy and has 10+ years of experience in the field. Her regional focus is on Central and Eastern Europe, including Russia and Ukraine. Dr. Dhand holds a Ph.D. in the geopolitics of Central Europe from King's College, London and has a master's degree in Russian and East European Studies from St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, as well as a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Matej Bel University in Slovakia. Her previous employers include Eurasia Group and the Economist Intelligence Unit.
