Teaching in Uncertain Times: Strategies for Online & Hybrid Teaching, Continuity across Transitions, and Student Engagement

Workshop
Budapest Campus
Thursday, December 10, 2020, 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

The session will be online, via Zoom.

Open to all CEU faculty and teaching assistants.

Nearly a year after COVID-19 was first discovered and nearly nine months after it upended daily life, higher education remains in a state of flux. Faculty and students have become increasingly familiar with new technologies, yet challenges remain in designing for explicitly online courses, in planning for possibly different modes of instruction (online and onsite) and possible transitions between them, and maintaining student engagement and community in what may be a bleak winter.

This workshop presents strategies and enables participants to share challenges and successful practices in teaching in online & hybrid environments. It presents an opportunity to identify and consolidate skills in key technologies, to think through the challenges of teaching in the winter term (planning for both the possibility of online-only courses and the possible need to transition between online & hybrid courses), and to identify possible opportunities (as well as very real constraints) for student engagement and community.

The workshop is jointly sponsored by the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) and Information Technology (IT)

Please register by midnight the day before the workshop. For questions, please contact ctl@ceu.edu
