We gather to ponder what this means for our research, how to think about this problem and what we can do to overcome it in empirical research. If you want to prepare, I recommend you read the paper titled “Are Coethnics More Effective Counterinsurgents? Evidence from the Second Chechen War” by Lyall (2010). It is one of my favorites and on topic with MENAS.
