Tuesday, February 9, 2021, 3:30 pm – 5:10 pm

Automation technologies such as AI and robotics raise issues concerning responsibility, given that agency is delegated to machines. This talk analyzes the problem of responsibility ascription in the context of AI and proposes to apply a relational approach to responsibility, which highlights the moral significance of responsibility patients next to responsibility agents and the classic Aristotelian challenges they face, and which links the problem of responsibility to that of explainability.
