The translator:
Noel Putnik is an alumnus of the Medieval Studies Department, who
earned his PhD degree in 2018 and wrote his dissertation on the eso-
teric philosophy of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. Presently, he teaches
classics at a secondary school in Belgrade, works for a prestigious pub-
lishing house of the humanities and is the author of several books and
the translator of classical texts.
The author:
György E. Szőnyi is a visiting professor at the History Department and
the Medieval Studies Department of CEU since 2006 and as of January
2021, he is Professor Emeritus of English Studies at the University of Szeged. He is the author of several books on John Dee, Renaissance magic as well as the multimediality of culture and the emblematic way of seeing. His John Dee’s Occultism: Magical Exaltation through Powerful Signs was published in 2004 by SUNY Press (paperback in 2010).
