BIO
Prof. Tobias Thomas studied in Bonn, Berlin and Hamburg, did research at Columbia University and at MPI for Tax Law and Public Finance in Munich. 2017-2020 he was Director of EcoAustria and since 2020 he has been Director General at Statistik Austria, and Vice President of the Austrian Statistics Society. He is Professor at the Heine University Düsseldorf. Thomas' research focuses on decision processes and actor behavior in an economic and political context. His research interests include public finance, the labor market, migration, social security, environmental economics and competitiveness, and the influence of the media on perceptions and behavior.
