ABSTRACT

Inequality has increased starkly in many contexts, including during the Covid pandemic. At the same time, recent advances in data availability provide us with unprecedented insights into the sources of inequality and the incomes of the rich. As a result, one might expect better and more active policies to combat inequality.

Assistant Professor Alice Kügler discusses trends in inequality, the trade-off between equity and efficiency, and why the rich pay low taxes.
