Communicating for Impact - A New Model for Public Interest Communications

Leaders across the private, public, non-profit, and government sectors are chasing notoriety and public attention – but the likelihood of a front-page story in the Financial Times or The New York Times is increasingly elusive (and what does a front-page story even mean anymore?).

In this session, we’ll examine how organizations have been able to break through and leverage the press and public attention to advance advocacy goals, raise awareness, fundraise, and further their mission. While this workshop is geared toward examples in the NGO and non-profit sectors, it’s meant for any leader who aspires to use communications to have an even greater impact in the world around them.

  • We’ll review case studies from the policy, human rights, and cultural sectors to see how communications can further strengthen small and mid-sized organizations
  • We’ll outline best practices for creating simplified communications plans that set clear objectives and prioritize time and resources
  • And we’ll discuss how impactful public communications is an important tool in any leader’s arsenal
