Department Seminar "Challenges for Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights Online"

Artificial intelligence plays an important role in organizing and mediating our online experience.  It is ubiquitous and acts as a 'hidden hand' in guiding what content is seen, interacted with, and promoted.  To that extent scholars have engaged with the impacts of artificial intelligence for freedom of expression and privacy, but attention to other rights has been largely neglected.  This talk will focus on the rights to assembly and association as well as freedom of religion or belief to examine what impacts artificial intelligence will have on the exercise and enjoyment of those rights online
