Yalda Night poster 21 Dec 19:00
Wednesday, December 21, 2022, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

21st of December is the longest night of the year. People in many regions of the world celebrate this night. Iranians also celebrate this night sitting around with family and friends, chatting, reading poetry, and having snacks. The symbolic fruits of Yalda night are pomegranates and watermelon.

CEU Community members will celebrate on the 21st of December. We invite everyone who wants to celebrate with us, no matter what country you are from or celebrate this night, you are invited! We would love to learn about all the different traditions surrounding this night in different parts of the world.

We will have snacks, music, dancing and of course lots of chatting. Traditionally, we tell stories, read the poetry of Iranian poets like Hafez and Rumi, and speak of the good that can overcome evil. If you feel like it, bring your favorite collection of poems because we will read and interpret poems chosen randomly. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks if you would like.

Please sign up here if you would like to participate and/or help organize here.
