The beating of the heart, the breathing, the trams, the rolling mountains, the buildings. Wherever we look or listen, we are surrounded by rhythm: in the city, in nature, in our bodies.
There are as many concepts of rhythm as there are musical worlds and genres, and by understanding them we can also grasp something of the respective traditions. Drumming and the use of rhythm are ancient methods of communication and self-expression. They create community and harmony, while invoking a sense of freedom and concentration. We will now try to translate our surroundings into the language of rhythm, a coding process that becomes an exciting game. With the help of visuality, even the most complex rhythms can become playful! During the workshop, under the guidance of András Dés, we will become instruments and learn about body percussion.
