Living Library

Social Event
Living Library
Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The Living Library is a tool that seeks to challenge prejudice and discrimination. It works just like a normal library: visitors can browse the catalog for the available titles, choose the book they want to read, and borrow it for a limited period of time. After reading, they return the book to the library and, if they want, borrow another one. The only difference is that in the Living Library, books are people, and reading consists of a conversation.
The "books" in the Living Library are members of different discriminated, minority groups, whom you can get to know by "borrowing" them for 20-30 minute conversations. Come to the event to get answers to the questions you have about the experience of LGBTQIA+, autistic, disabled people and of others who are often misunderstood by society.
