CIVICA Open Science for Researchers in the Social Sciences

Webinar
CIVICA Open Science
Friday, June 30, 2023, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

The movement in favor of Open Science has gained notable momentum and is increasingly shaping all aspects of research funding, evaluation, publications and practice. Yet, many researchers are still uncertain of what Open Science exactly consists of, how they should modify their everyday research activities, or what are the resources at hand to help them navigate these changing expectations.

This hybrid session will provide an introductory presentation of the core principles that guide Open Science and will offer practical tips of how to go about engaging with Open Science on your everyday research activities. The session will leave enough time to Q&A focusing on participants’ needs and queries.

Speaker

Laura Morales, Professor in Political Science/Comparative Politics (Sciences Po) and a Research Data Alliance/EOSC Future Ambassador (Open Science)

Laura Morales is Professor in Political Science/Comparative Politics at Sciences Po. Her research interests lie, especially, in the areas of comparative political behaviour, public opinion, political parties, the politics of immigration, and comparative politics. She is currently the principal investigator of the European Research Council grant ResponsiveGov, which studies how democratic governments responds to the multiple and sometimes contradictory pressures of the public. She is also the Chair of the COST Action “International Ethnic and Immigrant Minorities’ Survey Data Network”, which gathers a network of researchers from 33 countries working on improving the access, usability, dissemination and standards of the multiple and scattered survey data that exist on the economic, social and political integration of ethnic and migrant minorities. Professor Morales is also an Open Science Ambassador for the Research Data Alliance / EOSC. Through training sessions and other events, she aims to achieve a greater level of awareness of and engagement with EOSC tools and services, and RDA activities.
