Convention). It offers a complete article-by-article guide to the Convention with reference to the explanatory report, the findings of the monitoring body (GREVIO) and relevant State practice.

 

Sara De Vido is Associate Professor of International Law at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy, where she teaches International Law, EU Law and Human Rights Law. She is an affiliate to the Manchester International Law Centre, UK, where she co-founded the Women in International Law Network. She is a delegate of the Rector for Gender Equality, and a member of the Centre for Human Rights at Ca’ Foscari University. She is member of the academic council of Venice International University, Venice, Italy. She is also part of the National network on countering hate speech. She has been working on countering violence against women for years as expert on the Istanbul Convention and her most recent book is Violence against Women’s Health in International Law (Manchester University Press, Melland Schill Studies in International Law, 2020). She co-edited, along with Lorena Sosa, a report for the European Commission on criminalisation of gender-based violence against women in 31 European States, including ICT-facilitated violence (European network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination, November 2021). 

Micaela Frulli is Full Professor of International Law at the University of Florence, Italy, where she teaches International Law, International Criminal Law and Human Rights Law. She coordinated several national and international research projects. She was awarded an EU Marie Curie Fellowship (2010) for a project on the protection of cultural heritage. Her main areas of interest include international criminal law, international human rights law, gender equality and women’s rights. Amongst her recent publications: International Law and Chemical, Biological, Radio-Nuclear (CBRN) Events. Towards an All-Hazards Approach (co-editor with Casolari, de Guttry and Poli, BRILL, 2022). She is Managing Co-Editor of the open access journal QIL Questions of international (http://www.qil-qdi.org/). She is member of the board of the International Law Association-Italian Branch and Member of the steering Committee of the Antonio Cassese Initiative for Justice, Peace and Humanity. She lectures in courses dedicated to the training of judges, lawyers, diplomats and practitioners. With regard to public engagement she also develops and implements educational activities for secondary schools on topics such as non-discrimination, anti-racism and combating gender-based violence.  She is co-founder of  EquaLL , an NGO active to promote gender equality.
