Vienna Data Science Group - Story Telling for Data Science and Shiny R Dashboards in Production

Meet Up
Story Telling for Data Science and Shiny R Dashboards in Production
Monday, February 5, 2024, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Hi Data Enthusiasts,

We are back! After a longer Christmas break we are happy to announce our next Meetup on 5th of February!

This time we will focus on the last mile of your Data Science efforts, i.e. how to best present and communicate your findings! Don't miss these two amazing talks:

In addition, Krisztina Szarvas will give you some cool infos about Economics and Business Programs at CEU.

They are not listening to your data science project? Make them understand with data storytelling
Neuroscience shows: Our brains are not designed to process data and complexity. That's why our decision-makers often find it difficult to get excited about our data science projects and implement them. Brain-friendly data communication creates images in the mind (not on dashboards) and makes data easy to digest. Julia shows how you can use data storytelling to convince the audience of your data science project and its results. She gives you simple and scientifically proven communication hacks, which you can implement immediately.
Julia Zukrigl is a behavioural scientist, who became a data scientist, where she failed in many data projects because of the communication with decision-makers. Then she remembered her past in behavioral science and applied her knowledge of human decision-making and information behaviour to the world of data, linked it to effective communication techniques and packed it into a method case.
Today, she shares this data storytelling method case as a host and trainer in the DATA story LAB.

Is ShinyApp in R Production ready?
Maria Ines Plaza Schwarck (Mari Plaza), is a production engineer and MBA which an interesting mix of skills and interests. Her passion for data, process improvement and constant curiosity led her to gain experience on Data Science and Strategy. Her unusual career path provide her with practical knowledge to be an integrator between Domain Knowledge, quantitative methods, technology and how do you communicate the insights.

CEU has informed us that admission must be based on an RSVP list. Please make sure that you RSVP and that you have a human-name-like name set up on Meetup.com :)

🎤🎤 Open Mic
We are going to open up the stage after the talks for community announcements. If you'd like to announce something, open this slide deck, make sure you are signed in with a google account, and click "View Only" -> "Request Edit Access". Explain in the text box what you want to announce, and we'll give you edit access to the slide deck.
🎤🎤
Also, please note that during the event, photos might be made and later posted on VDSG's or CEU's social media page. Please notify us if you do not agree.
