Thursday, February 22, 2024, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

The Yehuda Elkana Center for Teaching, Learning, and Higher Education Research invites CEU doctoral students, prospective Global Teaching Fellows, and early-career faculty to an online workshop on writing a teaching philosophy statement on Thursday, February 22nd, from 2:00-3:30 pm. This hands-on workshop will prepare you to write and revise a teaching philosophy statement, which is required for applications to the Global Teaching Fellowship Program and for many academic jobs (on its own, or as part of a broader teaching portfolio). It also helps clarify your thinking of who you are as an academic teacher and your goals in teaching.

No coursework or teaching experience is required, but you will be asked to review three statements on Moodle before the workshop begins. (Access provided with registration). It will also be helpful to think about any relevant experience you have and how you might present yourself.

Please note that this workshop does not replace the sessions on writing a teaching philosophy statement in Yehuda Elkana Center courses. Instead, it is designed for doctoral students and early-career faculty not currently enrolled in Elkana Center coursework who need a teaching philosophy statement, e.g., for GTFP or job applications.

Please register no later than noon on 22, February , via the RSVP form, to receive the Zoom link and Moodle access.
