Popular Culture and World Politics v14

Conference
Popular Culture and World Politics v14
Friday, November 17, 2023, 10:00 am – Saturday, November 18, 2023, 5:30 pm

In recent years, the world has repeatedly shown volatility and violence as its key characteristics. At the same time, global audiences gain access to information and images of various political events through countless different media and genres, allowing for immersive experiences in real-time. Artefacts of popular culture are equally produced, consumed and negotiated in rapid speed and in various spaces. Given the ubiquitous nature of visuals, images and narratives appearing everywhere from the digital realm to traditional channels and infiltrating our everyday we aim to make PCWPv14 an event that transcends disciplinary and theoretical borders and approaches artefacts of popular culture from a multitude of vantage points. For the second time after PCWPv13 in Magdeburg, the conference will take place outside of the Anglo-Saxon arena, bringing the popular culture and world politics continuum to the European heartland and tying together strands of research as well as scholars of different backgrounds and career stages.
